Travel Time: The journey to Sittong from Bagdogra is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, covering a distance of about 40-50 km. Check-in: Settle into your pre-booked homestay in Sittong. This is a great way to experience the local culture and hospitality. Sittong Sightseeing: After lunch and a little rest, your driver will take you on a local sightseeing tour. Orange Orchards: Sittong is famously known as the "Orange Village." During the winter months (November to January), the orchards are a vibrant spectacle. You can take a leisurely walk through the gardens and enjoy the fresh citrus scent. Ahaldara Viewpoint: This is a stunning 360-degree viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the Eastern Himalayas, including a majestic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga on a clear day. You can also see the Teesta River flowing through the plains. Namthing Lake (Seasonal): This small, picturesque lake is a must-visit. It is best seen during and right after the monsoon season (August and September) when it's full of water. It's surrounded by beautiful pine forests. Jogighat Bridge: A steel bridge that connects Sittong and Mungpoo, offering a scenic spot for photos. Morning: After breakfast, check out from your homestay and begin your journey to Darjeeling. Travel Time: The drive from Sittong to Darjeeling is about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the route and road conditions. Check-in: Arrive in Darjeeling and check into your hotel. Darjeeling Walk: After freshening up, your driver will drop you at a convenient starting point for your walk. Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre: This is a short drive from the main town and a must-visit. You can see traditional Tibetan handicrafts being made and learn about the community's history. Mall Road (Chowrasta): Walk back to the main town area. The Mall Road is the heart of Darjeeling, a bustling pedestrian zone perfect for a stroll. You can shop for souvenirs, relax on a bench, and enjoy the atmosphere. Darjeeling Station: Walk down to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) station to see the famous toy train. Early Morning: Your day starts very early to witness the sunrise. Tiger Hill: Your cab will take you to Tiger Hill before dawn. On a clear morning, you can see a spectacular sunrise over the snow-capped peaks of the Kanchenjunga range. Post-Sunrise: After the breathtaking view, you will visit other local spots. Batasia Loop: A spiral railway track of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, offering a beautiful panoramic view of Darjeeling town and Mt. Kanchenjunga. There's also a Gorkha War Memorial here. Ghoom Monastery: This is one of the oldest and most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the region, home to a 15-foot-high statue of Maitreya Buddha. Breakfast & Rest: Return to your hotel for breakfast and some rest before continuing your sightseeing. Rest of the Day: Depending on your interest and energy, you can explore other local spots like the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Darjeeling Zoo (located within the same complex). Morning: After breakfast, check out from your hotel. Journey via Mirik: Your return journey to NJP, Siliguri Junction, or Bagdogra Airport will take you through a scenic route via Mirik. Travel Time: The Darjeeling to Bagdogra route via Mirik is approximately 4-5 hours. While longer than the direct route, it is far more picturesque. Mirik: Stop at Mirik, a serene town centered around Sumendu Lake. You can walk along the lake, take a boat ride, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Simana Viewpoint: "Simana" means "border" in Nepali. This viewpoint is located on the India-Nepal border, offering stunning views and a unique experience. Departure: Continue your journey from Mirik to your departure point (NJP, Siliguri Junction, or Bagdogra Airport), where your trip concludes.
